Progress Through Committee

3/6/2018

Picture
A lot of the work done in Annapolis is at the committee level.  Over the past few days, several of my priorities have advanced through committee and are on the House floor this week.  The Maryland Metro/Transit Funding Act passed out of both the Appropriations Committee and Environment and Transportation Committee on a bipartisan basis at the end of last week.  The Governor has also expressed support for the legislation.  The Maryland Pension Climate Change Risk Act also passed out of the Appropriations Committee on a bipartisan basis.  Of course, both bills have a long way to go but bipartisan votes out of Committee are a major step forward.
As always, you can always keep up with what I am doing by following me at @mkorman on Twitter or clicking "Like" on Delegate Marc Korman on Facebook.

Legislative News

My legislation--HB 204--on the timing of yellow lights on traffic signals with red light cameras passed the House unanimously.  The bill now goes to the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.

I joined with many of my colleagues in sending a letter of solidarity to students at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.  The letter described some of the legislation we are promoting in Maryland to strengthen our firearms laws.

Campaign News

The District 16 Team (Senator Susan Lee, Delegate Ariana Kelly, and I) have held several meet and greets over the past few weeks to tell our constituents about what we have been working on.  We have a few more scheduled for after the legislative session concludes.
