Newsmakers Interview - Week 9 Update

3/5/2019

Picture
I was recently interviewed on the Newsmakers program about some of the issues I am working on during the legislative session.  Click here or on the image below to watch the short interview.
As always, you can keep up with what I am doing by following me at @mkorman on Twitter or by clicking "Like" on Delegate Marc Korman on Facebook.

Legislative News

One of my bills is on the House floor this week.  The State Board of Elections Transparency Act passed out of the Health and Government Operations Committee on a unanimous, bipartisan basis.  The identical "cross-file" sponsored by Senator Cheryl Kagan has already passed the Senate.
-----
Three more of my bills are being heard in committees this week: the State Department of Assessment and Taxation (SDAT) Reform Act; the Electric Vehicle Recharging Equipment for Multifamily Units Act; and the Regional Transportation and Climate Protection Act of 2019.
-----
I have had the honor of chairing the 24-member Montgomery County Delegation this year.  One of the major responsibilities was chairing our regular Friday morning meetings.  Last Friday was our last planned meeting of the session as all of the local--Montgomery or Montgomery and Prince George's County only--bills have been acted upon.  My work as Delegation Chair continues as we try and move the County legislation through the regular legislative process and advance other county priorities.

Administration News

The Maryland Health Benefit Exchange
shared some interesting numbers about District 16.  As of 2018, 6,456 District 16ers had health insurance through the MHBE. As of 2016, 1,440 District 16ers paid the IRS fee for not being insured. That penalty has now been repealed at the federal level.

Community News
